Some help me realize why i listen to 2pac so much. I forgot who it was that said this on iss but he said
"First thing, people in here (the new generation) wouldn't be making dumbass comments like "I don't think Tupac was that good," or "Tupac was overrated.
"
Hip hop isn't as powerful today, and even Puffy and Houston Alexander stressed this. Back then, hip hop addressed sociological concerns and political corruption. Today, it's all about club music with no substance.
Tupac really was the last mainstream rapper, whose music had a message. He produced a lot of autobiographical tracks like "Staring at the World Through My Rearview" and tracks that addressed social inequality and social change like "Brenda's Got a Baby" and "Changes.
"
Everybody that grows up in this generation think it's all about shake-your-booty music, and they don't understood the roots of hip hop, which was to tell a story and send a message.
